Today's Class - Irregular Plurals

one child - two children
a tall man - five tall men
She is a pretty woman -They are pretty women

He has one tooth pulled out–His grandma still has all her teeth

a little mouse – two mice

I can't stand on one foot – Both my feet hurt

One goose is flying in the sky –Ten geese are flying in the sky
An ox is pulling the cart- Two oxen are pulling the cart
One person is helping - Five people are helping

Today's Class - Dimentions in Time- Present Simplel or Present Continuous

Present Simple
Cows graze in the pasture (they always do, they sometimes do, every day, etc...)

Sometimes the sun shines, some days it rains.

Present Continuous
The brown cow is grazing in the pasture. (now)
Many cows are grazing in the pasture.(in the picture, at the present.)

The sun is shining. (now, in the picture)

Present Simple: What do you do? (in general) I teach English.
Present Continuous: What am I doing? (now) I am composing daleingles.blogspot.com

Present Simple: Where does she live? (usually) She lives in Buenos Aires.
Present Continuous: Where is she staying? (now) She is staying with a friend in Mendoza.

We use the Present Simple to talk about: habits, rutines, facts, truths.
We use the Present Continuous to talk about: right now, now, future arrangements.

Present Simple: He works from 9 to 5 (routine)
Rivers flow to the sea. (fact)
They go to church on Sundays (habits)

Present Continuous: It is 1:00 pm-we are having lunch (right now)
She is studying at the University. (now, this year)
What are you doing tonight? (future arrangement)
We are meeting my mother for dinner. (future arrangement)

Does The Use of Words Promote Communication?

Well it depends.

If you ask me whether the use of words promotes communication, I would have to say that well it depends. It's like a double edged sword. More often than not, it brings confusion and inflates the mind. Eye contact, body language, touch, smile, laughter, expressions of kindness and generosity are some of the forms that communicate more effectively than mere words. Language, however, when well intended and backed up by understanding, may be a fabulous tool.     

El Uso de Palabras ¿Promueve la Comunicación?

Pues, depende.
Si me preguntas si el uso de palabras promueve la comunicación, debería decir que pues, depende.
Es como una espada de doble filos. Más frequenteamente, trae confustion y infla la mente. Contacto de vista, lenguaje de cuerpo, toque, sonrisa, risa, expresiones de bondad y generosidad son algunas de las formas que comunican más efectivamente que meras palabras. El idioma, sin embargo, cuando bien intentado y respaldado por entendimiento, puede ser una herramienta fabulosa.

Today's Class - Pronouns (Pronombres)

Los Pronombres nos ensenyan quien es el sujeto y de quien más se trata. Son los primeros componentes de las fraze.

         

Pronunciacion

(shíi) (her) (her) (hers)

(uí) (as) (áuer) (áuers)

(déi) (dem) (der) (ders)

Usamos dos tipos pronouns (pronombres)
Subjective, cuando es el sujeto y Objective, cuando es el objeto.
Cuando el pronombre es el sujeto, se usa la primera columna:
I am here. (Yo estoy aca.)
Are you all right? (¿Tu estás bien?)
She isn't hungry. (Ella no está hambrienta.)

Cuando el pronombere es el objeto, se usa la secunda columna:
They work with him. (Ellos trabajan con el.)
She isn't going to Tandill with us. (Ella no va a Tandil con nosotros.)
Manolo wants to study English with me. (Manolo quiere estudiar el ingles conmigo.)

Usamos dos tipos de pronombres posesivos.

En ingles no modifican los posesivos cuando estan seguidos con objetos en plural.

Por ejemplo: My book=My books; His son=His sons; (en español si se modifica. Por ejemplo: Mi libro-Mis libros; Mi hijo-Mis hijos)

Cuando al posesivo siga la cosa que le partenece, usamos la tercer columna:
My husband is a musician. (Mi esposo es un musico.)
Her dog is 20 years old. (Su pero tiene 20 años.)
Their scool is not far from here. (Sus escuela no está lejos de aqui.)

Cuando el pronombre posesivo termina la fraze, usamos la cuarta columna:
This dress is not mine. (Este vestido no es mío.)
That house is ours. (Esa casa es nuestra.)
Are these books yours? (¿Estos libros son tuyos?)

Soy profesora de ingles norteamericana con amplia experiencia de eseñanza alrededor del mundo. Hace mas que tres años que estoy enseñando en Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Entiendo los desafios que se presenta el apredisaje del ingles al alumno latino.
No es que no se puede pronunciar tanto como que uno se confunde al leer el ingles.
La pronunciacion no coincide. Las frazes-se componen al reves! No señor, no es el español.
